Zakat is alms (religious tax) for the poor and needy in our society. It is one of the five pillars of Islam, which include declaration of faith (Shahada), prayer (Swalah), fasting in Ramadan (Saum) and the pilgrimage to Mecca during the prescribe time (Hajj). Zakah is obligatory upon every adult Muslim of sound mind and means.
Zakat is payable on attaining a specific amount of wealth or savings which is referred to as Nisaab. The amount of Zakat to be paid is 2.5% of Nisaab.
Salam Charity has made fulfilment of this pillar simple by providing various options of payment including; our Zakat payment section on our website, complete with calculator. Bank Accounts in Equity bank and Tropical Bank with special banking slips have also been availed at all branches.
